New to me find.

I took an Uber yesterday to go get some bloodwork done for my upcoming follow up visit to my Doctor next week. I didn’t know the exact location to the Lab, but the address that I got off line said 60 Greece Center dr. When the Uber driver came, he picked me up in front of my apartment. As we were in progress on the way to the Lab we started talking, because as a one time Uber driver myself I know what it’s like; driving a total stranger, in the back of your personal car to a location that you had to get direction to on your phone, and the majority of the time you don’t even know where you are going. So I started off mentioning that I drove Uber for a while; that seemed to break the quiet uneasiness of the ride as we turned out of the apartment complexes driveway. I told him that I stopped driving Uber and started driving Doordash for a while and that I drove trucks for a living and wanted to slow down and retire from all the driving, and I mentioned that’s why I started writing, and that I already have one book published, and that I’m working on some more. His input to the conversation was he was driving Uber, but one day he wanted to go into business for himself, in the which I replied that’s the way to do it, and he also told me that he was a trucker before too, that he drove flatbed delivering pipes. Soon we arrived at Greece Town Mall where I thought my exit point was, but I was wrong, so he asked me the name of the place that I was looking for, I told him; UR Medical, he interrupted and said we just passed that, and turned around to make a correction, and we arrived at our location; so I thought! I went inside to state my reason for coming in,then the receptionist; a young man replied that this was not the place that I was looking for, and said that they weren’t even a lab. By now my Uber had left, so I set out on foot looking for my intended destination. After walking about five minutes back to where I thought it would be and not seeing anything that looked like what I was looking for I pulled out my phone and googled the address I had, and it showed that I should’ve zig’ed when I should’ve zag’ed, I turned around and headed in the other direction. After walking a good little distance I pulled out my phone again to see how far I’ve walked, and the map showed that I had to go three more lights, and then make a left on Longpound road; I thought to myself ” a left on Longpound? Where was Greece Center road, I had a long walk on longpound going away from Ridge Road…a long walk. After walking for a while I noticed the sidewalk was running out on my side of the road so I crossed over to the other side; running a little to clear traffic and continuing my journey. I saw a pickup truck parked in what looked like a part of the sidewalk that I was on, and the pickup had a strange looking hookup on the back I couldn’t make out what it was, so as I got closer the man working on the truck was picking up some of those orange safety cones that let you know that there’s construction ahead. As I got closer the man working on that spot picking up the cones my eye contact, smiling and seemed to move is mouth as to say ” how you doing?” I was raised by my grandma when I was living with her, and as a kid she taught me that when you make eye contact with someone; acknowledge them, so I replied with hello, how you today, he smiled looking relaxed he replied ” I’m doing well. ” I then told him that I noticed the back of his truck and that I couldn’t figure out what kind of a hookup he had on it, and he explained that it was to measure the radio frequency and he was just checking on the location he was in. After that I continued my trip, but I noticed that I was running out of time, and that the place I was heading to would be close once I got there, and that maybe I should make this right turn right here and head back home; after all I was closer to home and I was not on a bus route. After some more long walking I finally reached the street that the driveway of my apartment complex ran off of. By now my feet were just hoping for the end of the hike! Coming up to Dewey Avenue; the last street on my journey I might add before I’m home again there’s a Little Cesar pizza restaurant on the corner. Coming closer to it I saw a head facing away from me leaning on the back of a car, and smoking something. Again with the eye contact rule in mind I jokingly said ” taking a break?” And she smiled and replied yes, about time, been busy all day!” And then I was thinking and feeling a little hungry as well as tired, but I didn’t feel like pizza and I didn’t feel like cooking once I got home, but then I thought; a pizza place might have subs also, so I stopped and went back to ask the young lady did this shop have subs too, she said yes, and right away I started thinking what kind of a sub did I want and all I could think of was a nice Ruben! Yeah, that’s what I would love to have right about now; a Ruben! She sadly reported that the pizza shop didn’t have that kind of a sub, but there’s a shop on the far side of the same building that does great subs that I could check with, so since I live not too far from the shop, and it was on the way to my apartment let me take a look. I went into the shop and was greeted by a young man with hello may I help you? My heart was set on a nice Ruben, so that’s what I ordered. At first he looked confused and asked ” What is that?” I saw that he was serious, he had no idea of what I was talking about, he was still looking confused, and then he realized that I’d have to go to a sub shop for that kind of a sub. I was about to leave, and then I decided to ask what kind of subs did they have in there, and then he started naming them, when he got to Philly Steak my mouth started to water and I stopped him right there by saying yes that’s what I would like to have, so he took my order, and when I got home I unwrapped it, prayed and gave thanks for it and dove in! It was marvelous! You hear me? If I’d have known of this place earlier; and I’ve lived within walking distance of this place for about four years; I’d have been: Fat, broke and dead by no! This place has all of the heart -attack treats you could ever want! The name of this shop is  PARIS HALA DONER, Address is 3759 Dewey Avenue, Rochester, NY. 14616. And you can order Uber Eates, Doordash and Grubhub. You welcome!
